What First?:

If you just signed up and are wondering "now what?" then this is the place for you!

Domain Address

When you enter your domain address in your browser's address bar, the "www." is optional. You can access your domain as https://www.yourdomain.com or as https://yourdomain.com. Throughout these support pages, the "www." is not used for brevity.

Access DirectAdmin, Your Control Panel

The recommended way to securely access DirectAdmin is to enter https://abbi.shenvalleyonlien.net:2222 in the address bar of your browser. You will see a login prompt and will have to enter the master username and password we supplied to access DirectAdmin. Please see Control Panel (DirectAdmin) for more details.

Domain Management Control Panel

We recommend that the first thing you do is access your control panel and then change your password. Your control panel allows you to do everything you need to create and maintain your site.

Once in the control panel click on the Change Password icon. Enter your old password in the first field. Enter you new password in the second field. Reenter the new password exactly the same way in the third field. Note that passwords are case sensitive.

Next, look at everything else you can do with the control panel and familiarize yourself with its features.

Finally, we suggest that you review the rest of the subtopics in the quick start guide for more details about getting started.

Upload Your Site Using FTP:

You can upload your site using your favorite FTP Client and the domain name for your account. For free FTP clients we recommend using WS_FTP or FileZilla for Windows and Transmit or FileZilla for Macintosh. When using an FTP client to upload your files, you should upload to the public_html folder. You can create subdirectories under the main folder if you wish.

For specific details and tutorials for uploading your site via FTP see the FTP Topic.

Default E-mail Account

When your hosting account was created, a default e-mail account was created using the master user name (user@yourdomain.com). All unrouted e-mail (such as president@yourdomain.com where you don't have an account named "president") is sent to your default e-mail account. Since most unrouted e-mail is spam, you can change the destination of unrouted e-mail to :blackhole: to automatically discard it. In the control panel, select "Mail Manager" and then "Default Address"

Creating POP E-mail Accounts:

To create or delete a POP3 account, go to your control panel at https://yourdomain.com/cpanel and choose the Mail Manager icon. Click on Add/Remove accounts. You can add a new e-mail account by clicking the appropriate link. To delete an existing e-mail account, click "delete" next to the e-mail account that you would like to delete. You cannot delete the default POP3 address, which corresponds to the main user name assigned when your account was opened.

POP 3 Server Name:

Your POP3 server name is yourdomain.com. The server name will be the same no matter how many POP3 e-mail accounts you set up.

E-Mail Forwarder or Alias:

An e-mail forwarder is a way to copy (forward) incoming e-mail message to another e-mail address. If your e-mail address is myname@mydomain.com, a forwarder will copy incoming messages to the specified e-mail address, such as myname@gmail.com. If there is no e-mail account (mailbox) for myname@mydomain.com, the forwarder acts as an e-mail alias such that mail sent to myname@mydomain.com is only delivered to myname@gmail.com.
